Stop And Smell The Roses

Posted by Lori Pepe-Lunche on Saturday, May 11, 2013, In : Flowers

The best way to freshen up your home and decor, at little or no cost, is with flowers. If you have them in your yard, as so many homes I've seen over the past few weeks do, just clip a few and bring them inside.

All you need is one in a bud vase on your night table. If it happens to be a rose, the subtle, delicate fragrance will float through the room and give it a fresh, clean, scent. Not only that, your room will look redecorated and alive!

Flowerland

Posted by Lori Pepe-Lunche on Friday, February 3, 2012, In : Garden

On the quiet part of Solano Avenue in Albany there lives a nursery that has been there for years. It was a sleepy little spot with nothing unusual going on until...Voila! Three years ago Carly Dennett bought this little nursery and turned it into a magical spot... the new Flowerland.

If you have even the smallest south facing exposure, you have what you need to create a tropical paradise in your Bay Area backyard!

Hawaii is one of my favorite places, mostly because of the weather, the plants, the water, and the pace.

You find incredible colors as well as a...

Posted by Lori Pepe-Lunche on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, In : DIY (Do It Yourself) Projects

Do you remember the garden fire pits that were all the rage a few years ago? It sounded wonderful and warm for one of those spring or summer evenings in the garden under the stars. Some people still use theirs, but I think for most, it was just a little too much trouble for not enough warmth, not to mention the risk of instant hair loss while trying to warm your hands over the fire.

Actually, I never purchased one, but a friend of mine who was one of the first to purchase hers at Smith and Haw...
