If you have never visited Heath Ceramics, you really must when you are in the area!
Heath has a rich history of producing hand made tiles and ceramics for over 50 years. Their tiles can be seen in famous restaurants such as Chez Panisse and The Slanted Door.
Edith Heath, an influential potter and designer of the Modernist era, started the company in 1948. In 2003 Robin Petravic and Catherine Bailey purchased and completely revitalized the company, adding beautiful new colors and designs.
They now have many retail locations including Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The best place to go is their main shop in Sausalito where you will find beautiful tile, artifacts and glassware by local artisans, and their "back room" of overstocks, over runs, and blems.
All tile color samples available
If you are looking for a little or even alot of tile for a new project, it's definitely worth checking out the "back room" where everything is about 75% off the regular price.
As an Interior Designer, I am constantly looking for new ways of re-purposing and re-using what people already have as well as finding new resources for affordable furnishings. This is just a place to share great resources, ideas, information about the trades, and ways of doing things yourself to help make your own home fabulous!
